The 87th Academy Awards is less than 30 hours away. The red carpet is rolled out, the stage is set up, and final preparations are underway. I was invited to step behind the curtain and tour the Dolby Theatre where the Oscars ceremony takes place, and I got to speak with the folks tasked with making sure the event goes off without a hitch. My coverage started yesterday, and continues through the weekend and into the Oscar broadcast itself where I’ll be in the audience and live-tweeting the show for you!

In the first half of my Oscar sneak preview yesterday I spoke with Curt Belmher, senior vice president of content solutions at Dolby; Gary Epstein, Dolby product marketing manager; and David Gray, vice president of global services and industry relations. We talked about the sound setup in the theatre, how Dolby Atmos has changed the experience for guests at the ceremony, and the ins and outs of how surround sound works.

Today, I’ll take you into the broadcast trucks and let you look into the Greenroom where the stars go to relax and get away from the prying eyes of… well, of press folks like me. So let’s get started with the rest of our behind-the-scenes advance look at the 87th Academy Awards
